Torrelavega is an important industrial and commercial city situated 24,5 kilometers from Santander, the capital of Cantabria. It was founded at the end of the thirteenth century and currently has more than 55.000 inhabitants.
Between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century the city underwent an industrial heyday that even after suffering stages of ups and downs, has led her to become the second most important municipality of the region. In addition to industry, Torrelavega offers other services such as the organization of conventions, conferences and fairs.
