OBJETIVOS DEL CURSO

This Summer School – Workshop will gather leading speakers from different fields in spectroscopy and luminescent materials.

Optical materials have attracted significant attention due to the application of their properties in different fields such as opto-electroncis, sensing, imaging and displays. The design, synthesis and optical control of different luminescent materials is of great interest. This twenty-hour in four days course is designed to expose students to a broad range of applications of luminescent materials. The program will provide an overview of both basics and current research and advances in the field.

Specifically, the following topics will be covered during the course:
- Synthesis of luminescent nanomaterials
- Fundamentals of optically active centers: transition metal vs. rare-earth ions
- Scintillating materials
- Biomedical applications of optical (nano)materials: imaging and nanothermometry
- LEDs- Luminescence at extreme conditions
- Plasmonics and photonics
- Magnetooptics

The course is addressed to Bachelor and Master students as well as PhD Candidates in the field of Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, among others, and it will provide the opportuninty for the students to interact and discuss with prestigious researchers. The course language will be English.
