Basic competences

Master historiographic traditions and methodological and conceptual resources aimed at analysing modern history in its different areas and approaches
Have an advanced knowledge of the main bibliographic resources in the thematic areas and disciplines that historiographic studies of the Spanish monarchy from the 16th to 18th centuries encompass
Be able to organise, file and programme those manuscripts and printed and bibliographical documents that the student of modern history may have available
Acquire a critical knowledge of the relationship between current events and processes and the past
Apply in an appropriate manner a scientific methodology specific to history, in the undertaking of bibliographical work, in the drawing-up of states of affairs and in the analysis and interpretation of sources
Apply to a high level tools for compiling information such as bibliographical catalogues, archive inventories and electronic references to research and the cataloguing of documents and archive and library books
Apply new technologies to historical research and to the undertaking of work specific to the professional profiles of the degree
Know how to transcribe, synthesise and catalogue historical information

Apply a comparative analysis methodology to the study, at an advanced level, of the different territories of the Spanish Monarchy and the distinct imperial units that made up the political map of the modern world
