The Institute's facilities are located In the Science and Technology Park of Cantabria (PCTCAN). It is equipped with cutting-edge technologies in molecular and cellular biology, such as massive sequencing, bioinformatics, protein crystallography or microscopy, allowing the exhaustive analysis of genes and proteins focused on many biological problems.
The building has a 6,000 m2 area, distributed over five floors, and has 22 laboratories for research groups. It also has laboratories and facilities for research support, as radioactivity, microfluidics and cell cultures laboratories, as well as Biosecurity Laboratories of level two (BSL-2) and three (BSL-3), one of the few laboratories of these characteristics in our country.
On the other hand, IBBTEC has an in-house Bio-incubator of technology-based companies (EBTS), with the objective of attracting high impact and projection projects, being a strategic tool for the transfer of research results to productive sector and society, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
