I finished my studies as a Technician in Pathology and Cytology in June 2001. Since then I have been working as a laboratory technician in different research areas at several institutions. In all of them I have performed tasks common to research laboratories in addition to the specific techniques of each research line.
I have worked in the Developmental Biology laboratory, led by Prof. María Ángeles Ros (University of Cantabria, 2001-2003), in the Molecular Biology laboratory of the Hematology Service of Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, led by Dr. Marta Albajar (2003-2008). In the Intergenomics group, led by Prof. Fernando de la Cruz (University of Cantabria, 2008-2013 and 2017-2019. 2021). In the biotechnological company StemVital S.L. (2019-2020). I joined the Micromanufacturing Service (SMF) of the Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology of Cantabria (responsible: Fernando de la Cruz, 2014-2017), where I am currently working at the facility 2021 to 2024.
Functional Plasmidomics

Research lines
Plasmids are genomes with a deep impact in microbial communities, a shared gene pool that allows bacteria to adapt to different environments. By using plasmid comparative genomics, we are identifying and studying key gene functions for cell-to-cell communication, as well as others linked to multirresistant bacteria outbreaks. Some of these functions are also harnessed to build synthetic gene circuits to perform distributed computation in bacterial populations.
