Molecular Biology of Brucella Pathogenicity

Research lines

    •  Brucella virulence factors (and their regulation).
    •  Metagenomics and microbial ecology

Group history

Our research group holds a long record of activity in the field of Molecular Microbiology. Our previous work in mechanisms of recombination and mobility of antibiotic resistance genes in medically important bacteria was  followed by the analysis of molecular pathogenicity of Brucella giving significant contributions to new vaccines and epidemiological methods.  By adopting high throughput methods and new generation sequencing we broadened our studies in Brucella and starting moving to the field of metagenomics and ambiental microbiology.
