Marina obtained the Degree of Biotechnology from Pablo de Olavide University in 2019, having studied for a semester in Presbyterian College (SC, USA) thanks to an Atlanticus Santander scholarship. During this period, she was an intern in the laboratory of Dr. Fernando Govantes in the Molecular Biology and Biochemical Engineering Department, where she conducted her Bachelor Thesis about microbial biofilms. She followed these investigations for a year during an Erasmus+ internship in Universität Hamburg (Germany), specifically in Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Streit's lab.

While obtaining an MSc in Biomedical Biotechnology from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (2022) she worked as an intern in AINIA, where she also conducted her master thesis. In the cell culture lab, led by Dr. Lidia Tomás, she set the basis of 3D bioprinting for the development of preclinical diagnostic cellular models.

In May 2022, she joined the Intergenomics group in the IBBTEC to write her PhD thesis under the supervision Fernando de la Cruz and Raúl Fernández.
