Raquel Gutiérrez Lanza

​Raquel Gutiérrez Lanza is a Bachelor of Biology from Universidad de  León in 2001 after having completed her last year at Vrije Universiteit with a Socrates Erasmus scholarship. After that, she moved to San Diego where she was working as a technitian at the Sanford Burnham Prebys, in the laboratory of Cardiac Development and Stem Cells of Prof. Marc Mercola between 2003 and 2007.

 In 2009 she received her Masters Degree from Universidad  de   Valladolid in Biomedical Research and later on she moved to Bilbao where she worked in the group of  the Ikerbasque Prof. Jose Julio Rodriguez Arellano  in the Neurosciences Department of the UPV / EHU as a technician and Lab Manager.

Since 2013 Raquel has been working as a laboratory technician at IBBTEC first in the UDEB  with different research groups linked or collaborating with biotechnology companies and currently working  with Prof. Fernando de la Cruz Calahorra in his Intergenomics group.

Research lines

– Evolution and Ecology:

         • Classification of conjugative and mobilizable plasmids based on their relaxase sequences.

         • Conjugative systems of Cyanobacteria and Actinomycetes.  

– Molecular Engines: Protein and DNA transporters across bacterial membranes

– Protein Engineering: Conjugative relaxases as a target for the inhibition of the dissemination of antibiotic resistance.

– Systems Biology
