Optimality conditions for infinite horizon control problems under detectability and stabilizability assumptions

Abstract: First and second order optimality conditions are derived for infinite horizon optimal control problems subject to a semilinear parabolic equation, in the situation where the control-to-state mapping is not necessarily well defined. To deal with this situation appropriate detectability and stabilizing feedback mechanisms are introduced. Furthermore, the convergence of families of finite horizon optimal control problems to the infinite horizon problem is investigated.
