Diego García Saiz is "Profesor Permanente Laboral", accredited as a Full Professor ("Profesor Titular") since January 2022, in the Software Engineering and Real-Time Group of the Department of Computer Science and Electronics. He holds an active six-year research accreditation (2019) and two five-year teaching accreditations. He obtained his PhD CUM LAUDE in 2016. His research work falls within the areas of Data Science, Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity. He has conducted research stays at the University of Córdoba and at the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support in Oporto. He has 14 publications in impact journals, 3 book chapters, and over 30 articles published in conference proceedings (several with an A rating in the CORE classification), with over 500 citations and an h-index of 13 (Google Scholar). He has participated or is currently participating as a researcher in various competitive national and European projects, participating in and leading 83 collaboration projects with companies and other external entities, and is a member of several Program Committees of prestigious international conferences. In terms of his teaching work, he teaches courses in the areas of Data Science and Management, and Software Engineering in the Degrees of Mathematics and Computer Science, and the Master's degrees in Data Science, Computer Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing, being responsible for several courses and having experience in teaching 15 different courses with over 1400 accumulated hours. He has an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 in teaching quality surveys. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and master's theses, as well as academic internships, and has been/is a tutor for collaboration grants from the Ministry. Additionally, he has taught and been a speaker in various University Expert, Specialization, and Summer courses, has participated in Teaching Innovation projects, and has teaching publications in the field of Computer Science. In terms of administration, he is currently a member of the dean's team of the Faculty of Sciences as Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, EUNICE, and Internationalization, he is also the Secretary of the Faculty Board, and has participated or is participating in various Quality and Academic Committees of different degrees. He has been also a member of the Governing Council of the University of Cantabria, its Permanent Commission, and the University Assembly.
