Adolfo Cobo received his Ph.D. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Cantabria (Spain), in 1999. He currently holds a position as Full Professor in the Dept. of Electronic Technology, Systems Engineering and Automation at the University of Cantabria. His research is focused on optical fiber sensors, LIBS and Raman spectroscopy and applied artificial intelligence for archaeological, environmental and biomedical applications. He has collaborated on >40 competitive research projects and has (co)supervised 7 doctoral theses (4 more in progress). He has participated in >40 research contracts with companies, co-authored >80 articles in scientific journals, more than 150 presentations at conferences and co-inventor of 12 patents, while contributing to the creation of four spin-off companies.
