Through this research contract, the UC will guide FAO in assisting the Government of Georgia in the implementation of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) project entitled “Strategic Readiness to support the Updated NDC and its Climate Action for Georgia: Transforming Agriculture Sector through Low-Emissions and Climate-Resilient Pathways”. This will be done by carefully analyzing to what extent prioritized crop and livestock species may be negatively affected by potential future changes in extreme weather events.
The output of this assessment will support technical and policy decisions regarding if, when, and what types of responsive actions may be required in the years ahead to avoid anticipated climate change damages in Georgia.
