Python code to calculate Lamb circulation types derived from historical CMIP simulations and reanalysis data [version 4]

This collection of Python scripts serves to 1) bring GCM and reanalysis data to a common grid (interpolator.py), 2) to calculate Lamb Weather Types between 30 and 70 degrees N and S on the grid-box scale using a moving window (makecalcs.py) and 3) to analyze the results (analysis_hist.py and analysis_ensemble.py) as was done in the following studies: Brands, S (2022): A circulation-based performance atlas of the CMIP5 and 6 models for regional climate studies in the Northern Hemisphere mid-to-high latitudes, Geosci. Model Dev., 15, 1375?1411, https://doi.org/10.5194/gmd-15-1375-2022 Brands, S (2022): Common error patterns in the regional atmospheric circulation simulated by the CMIP multi-model ensemble. Geophysical Research Letters, 49, e2022GL101446, https://doi.org/10.1029/2022GL101446 Update history: Version 2 contains an updated version of Version 3 contains an updated version of , the files are no longer packed. Version 4 contains an updated version of , including metadata for additional GCMs, and an updated version of , including the code for a correlation matrix of the GCMs' error patterns. From this version onwards, the scripts can also be used for the Southern Hemisphere. Since the Python function is collaborative effort, it is no longer contained in this script collection and was published in the separate Zenodo entry https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7813495
