Cueva de Morgota: I Campaña de sondeo

Abstract: Morgota Cave is located 440 metres W-NW of Santimamiñe Cave. On 23 May 2014, the ADES Potholing Group reported a series of paintings and red markings in the chamber of the cave. These were later confirmed to be examples of Palaeolithic cave art. During 2015, an archaeological assessment was carried out in the cave, along with 2 stratigraphic sondages. During this intervention, a Palaeolithic archaeological context was identified and dated using C14-AMS. The context is probably associated with the cave art.
