Abstract: We analyze graphic and written documentation from the XVI to the XIX century in order to know the history of a late-gothic building from Plasencia (Cáceres), the tower-house of the Villalba family, also known as Casa del Cubo. Among those documents are, on the one hand, a manuscript entitled Placentiae urbis et eiudem episcopatus descriptio (Luis de Toro, 1573), preserved in the Library of the University of Salamanca, and in the other hand, a set of five colored sheets from the XVIII century (1769), stored in the Historical Archive of the Nobility (Toledo), that represent its four facades and its cloister. Those and other sources are studied in the historical and urban context of that city, from the end of the Middle Ages and during the Early Modern Age.
