Abstract: A 16-year-old girl presented with intermittent dyspnea, chest oppression, and dizziness on exertion. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed a vascularized mass in the left ventricle. Cardiac gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) showed a solid mass in the left ventricular apex and minimal bilateral pleural and pericardial effusions. This mass showed an intense contrast enhancement and a high perfusion. F-18 fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT) showed a focal uptake in the left ventricular apex with no evidence of abnormal extracardiac uptake. This is a report of FDG uptake by a cardiac hemangioma.
