I graduated in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cantabria and completed an MSc in Analytical and Bioanalytical Sciences at the University of Oviedo in 2012. During my PhD at the National Institute of Coal (INCAR-CSIC) in Spain, supported by a CSIC JAE-predoc grant, I focused on mercury speciation in coal combustion solids. My research contributed to developing a patented speciation device. I conducted a pre-doctoral stay at TU-Braunschweig (Germany). I completed my PhD with an International Mention in 2015 and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award at the University of Oviedo.
After my PhD, I conducted a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals (ICPF) in Prague, where I focused on mercury behaviour in waste incineration. Returning to Spain in 2017, I joined the UC’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, focusing on CO2 utilisation, waste minimisation, and sustainability through a Juan de la Cierva contract.
At the present, I am Assistant Professor at UC. My current research aims to create decision-making tools based on life cycle thinking to support industry decarbonisation during the net-zero transition.
