Professional career: He has been involved in teaching activities related to PhD, Master and regular courses during the last 20 years. He has supervised more than 150 Grade and Master Students as well as 8 PhD.
Co-author of 5 patents. Co-author of 47 papers in JCR indexed journals (13 Q1; 17 Q2; 10 Q3 and 7 Q4). Co-author of 12 papers in informative magazines. Co-author of 5 books and more than 115 contributions to national and international meetings. His publications received more than 1.058 cites (h-index: 17).
He has carried out post-doc researching stays at Exeter University (UK) and Brunel University (UK). He has been general co-chair of the International Conference on Power Quality and Renewable Energies (ICREPQ’08) held in Santander. Furthermore, he has been member of the steering committees and technical program committees of more than 10 conferences. He is member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Renewable Energy Technology. From an institutional perspective he has been Head of the Electrical and Energy Engineering Department in the University of Cantabria from 2005-2012. He has also been Head of the Sustainability Office at UC from 2012 to 2016. Since 2016 he is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cantabria. From the perspective of commissions of trust, he has been involved in the evaluation of different tracks in the Spanish Evaluation Boards (ANEP, AECID).
