Víctor Sánchez-Gaya obtained his master in
Bioinformatics and Biostatistics from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and
his degree in Biotechnology from the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia.
Victor is currently doing his PhD at the Developmental Genomics lab headed by
Dr. Álvaro Rada-Iglesias at the IBBTEC (Santander, España). Victor's project
consists on the development of a software for the prediction of the
pathogenicity of different genetic alterations. Victor previously worked as a
bioinformatician in the Genomics of Gene Expression Lab headed by Dr. Ana
Conesa at the CIPF(Valencia, Spain), and in the Computational Biology and Data
Mining group headed by Dr. Miguel Andrade at the JGU (Mainz, Germany).
The major interest of our laboratory is to uncover the main genetic and epigenetic factors that allow the deployment of specific gene expression profiles as vertebrate developmental programs unroll. Our goal is to provide a deep mechanistic understanding of the non-coding genomic space that is dynamically and specifically used during mammalian embryogenesis, which is fundamental to reveal the molecular basis of human congenital diseases. More specifically, by functionally and mechanistically characterizing developmental enhancers, my laboratory aims at:
